How did you meet and when did you both realize your love for travel?
We first met at school where we stayed friends for years before we got together. During our first year together we both discussed travel on a daily basis. We started saving hard, and one day just booked a one way ticket to Europe.
Where was your first destination together and tell us about it?
We first flew into the UK & spent a couple of weeks in Scotland. After purchasing our van we drove up North and explored the Scottish Highlands. This was our first exciting destination we got to properly explore where instantly fell in love with Isle of Skye. We loved it so much we had to return in the winter to explore its depths in the cold & snow.
How do you share your work on the road? Who does what?
Kyle is definitely my own personal photographer haha! He is always happy to go above and beyond to capture an image I have in mind. Having two perspectives makes it so much easier to create something magical. I do all my own photo editing and blogging with Kyle being more than happy to step back and allow me to complete the rest.
How do you make decisions together for next destinations?
Almost everywhere we go we both do a lot of research, through Pinterest and other travel blogs, to make our decision on the next destination. We like to base a lot of our travels around creating enticing travel images. So usually mountain or beach landscapes 🙂
Have you noticed any changes in the relationship since you started traveling together?
Definitely! We have so much more understanding for each other & what we really want in life. It’s so great to share the same passion for travel with the one you love.
Living and traveling together 24/7 can sometimes be stressful and relate to moments of disagreements or misunderstandings. How do you cope with these situations?
Oh gosh so many disagreements along the way! Especially when you’re trying to navigate a van around a city haha. The best thing for us to do is to step away from each other for a little while. Once we’ve had time to calm down and think we usually come back together hugging and kissing.
What is the most beautiful moment you have experienced together while traveling?
Oh that is a hard one! So so many moments, how does one choose. Hiking to the top of Trolltunga and Preikestolen was an amazingly memorable moment in our travels. Hiking for 5 long hard hours to watch the midnight sunset atop Trolltunga & then camping overnight was a once in a lifetime experience.
What do you like the most about traveling as a couple?
Creating memories together! Having someone there to always share those high and low moments. Some days can be really stressful – where something will go wrong & all you want to do is just go home, where everything feels relative and safe. Having each others support makes those days so much easier to deal with. Just knowing you’re not going through it alone.
What do you like the least about traveling as a couple?
Probably the little time we get to ourselves. Spending every single waking moment together can get pretty full on, & not having your own space can be quiet challenging.
How do you keep the relationship spark alive on the road?
Oh thats easy! Every day we are traveling to new exciting places we’ve never been before, witnessing & experiencing different cultures, landscapes & people. Never is there a dull moment.
What is one piece of advice you’d give to any couple wanting to travel together?
Patience patience patience. We are still working on perfecting that one though haha.
